Tilecast Edge is in preview. Its software is complete, but it is not qualified on physical hardware yet. Use the stable Linux Player on production screens until a Tilecast release supports your hardware.

Pair an Edge screen

A new Edge Player pairs with the same codes and approval as every other Tilecast Player. A migrated screen keeps its pairing and doesn’t need this page.

  1. Give Edge the server address. Use one of these:

    • type the address on the Edge setup screen;

    • choose a server that Edge found on the local network;

    • on a computer without a keyboard, use the command line:

      On the Edge computer
      /opt/tilecast-edge/current/bin/tilecastctl pair https://signage.example.org

  2. Read the pairing code on the screen, or run tilecastctl status to see it. status never shows the private pairing secret or the Player credential.

  3. In Studio, approve the code with the normal Pair a display flow.

Edge keeps its pairing request through a restart, so restarting Edge doesn’t create a new code each time. If the request expires or is rejected, Edge starts a new one.

Server discovery uses Avahi (mDNS) and is optional. If the server doesn’t appear, for example because multicast is blocked between networks, enter the address directly.
