# Manage Tilecast

Use these pages after Tilecast is running. They cover checking on screens, deciding who can sign in, changing installation settings, and protecting the server. Most settings are under **Settings** in Studio. Some pages need the **Owner** or **Administrator** role, and each page says so.

## Fleet health and Activity

Check what your screens are doing now and what happened earlier.

- [Read the Overview](../operations/overview/) to see which screens need attention and what happens next.
- [Read Activity reports](../operations/activity/) to review Player-confirmed playback, compliance, and incidents.
- [Understand a screen's status](../operations/screen-status/) when a display looks offline or needs attention.
- [Send a Player command](../operations/player-commands/) to request a sync, playback reload, cache clear, or restart.

If something is not working, start with [Troubleshooting](../troubleshooting/).

## Live preview

- [View a live preview or stream](../operations/live-preview/) to check what a connected Player is showing.
- [Review Snapshot history](../operations/snapshot-history/) to look back at earlier screenshots from a screen.

## Temporary presentations

Show something now without editing a schedule.

- [Temporary presentations](../operations/temporary-presentations/) explains Quick Present, AirPlay, and Takeover, and what plays first when more than one is active.

## Users and access

- [Manage users and roles](../administration/users-and-roles/) to create accounts, limit screen access, or suspend an account.
- [Protect Studio accounts](../administration/sign-in-security/) to enroll a second factor or require one for some or all accounts.
- [My Account and preferences](../administration/account/) for each person's language, appearance, and sign-in factors.

## Organization settings

- [Organization settings](../administration/organization/) for your organization name and regional formatting.
- [Language and regional settings](../administration/language-regional/) to separate personal Studio language from shared signage formatting.
- [Branding](../administration/branding/) for the screens Tilecast itself draws on a Player.
- [Locations](../administration/locations/) for reusable place metadata and targeting.
- [Content and playback settings](../administration/content-settings/) for organization defaults.
- [Set Player policies](../administration/player-policies/) to set organization defaults or override them for a Display Group or screen.
- [Import and export settings](../administration/import-export/) to move supported settings between installations without secrets.
- [System settings and health](../administration/system/) to check installation status and run the maintenance actions Studio offers.
- [Dependency Graph](../administration/dependency-graph/) to trace where content is used before you change it.

## Networking and remote access

- [Networking and remote access](../administration/networking/) covers server addresses, HTTPS, proxies, tunnels, mDNS, and VLAN boundaries.
- [Set up a Presentation Network](../administration/presentation-networks/) prepares a Linux Player for AirPlay when the sender cannot reach it over Ethernet.
- [Check that Players can reach the server](../setup/network-readiness/) tests the route from a Player's network to Tilecast Server.

## Backups and server updates

- [Back up and restore Tilecast](../administration/backups/) to protect the database, media, and cached Player releases.
- [Update Tilecast Server](../administration/server-updates/) to update a Docker Compose installation and keep a way back.
- [Update Tilecast Player](../administration/player-updates/) to verify signed Player releases and deploy them to selected screens. This does not update the server.

## Data and retention

- [Data retention](../operations/data-retention/) sets how long Tilecast keeps Activity, audit, diagnostic, and telemetry history.
- [Snapshot history](../operations/snapshot-history/) has its own capture interval and retention settings.
